Pilgrimage

The beautiful Shrine Church of Our Lady of Walsingham.

Pilgrimage was part of the life of Jesus. With his Mother, Mary, he went to Jerusalem at the time of pilgrimage and one of the most beloved accounts of the Gospel is of her searching for Jesus who had stayed behind in Jerusalem at the age of 12. In this example we see how, “Mary is teaching us how to seek Christ, to love Truth and to learn from Jesus by pondering the Rosary`s mysteries of God`s saving love. For by searching for and meditating upon God`s wisdom made manifest in Christ, we shall, with joy, draw water from the wells salvation” (words from a Rosary reflection by Fr Lawrence Lew).

Pilgrimage is a way of setting off to search for the truth of God so that we might learn more about the truth of ourselves. It deepens our ability to reflect wisely on our life and the world we live in, and how the discovery of the love we seek out and search for, fills us with a holy joy.

I urge everybody to consider pilgrimage at some point of the their life. For myself it`s an integral part of the Christian life and vital for its growth.

I am always more than willing to talk more about it so please just ask.

Yours

Fr Guy
