Promoting a Safer Church

St Pauls & St Mary's have adopted the House of Bishops ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ policy and the Parish Safeguarding Handbook, incorporating the House of Bishop’s Safeguarding Policy and Practice Guidance
A copy of this, and all the information below can be found here: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2017-11/cofe-policy-statement.pdf

We also display the Promoting a Safer Church poster prominently within our church. This is in the entrance hall to Church along with relevant phone numbers and contact details.

All those working with children and adults at risk have undergone safer recruitment and received safeguarding training.

Finding support
Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service, providing a confidential, personal and safe space for anyone who has been abused by someone in the Church or as a result of their relationship with the Church of England, the Catholic Church in England and Wales or the Church in Wales.
If you have been affected, however long ago, Safe Spaces can provide you with support.

We are always exploring new ways of introducing and nurturing the faith of the Church with children and their families. Every child should begin to experience the main act of Christian worship, the Mass (Eucharist) as well as other celebrations. Faith isn`t simply about education; it`s an experience we grow in; an experience of Christ`s love for us. Please see the events and dates page for opportunities to share in this.

We have a Church page on the local St Paul`s Church of England Primary School website, and Fr Guy is occasionally asked to look after assemblies at St Paul`s and other schools in the area.

Our vision is founded on the gift Christ instituted within his Church, the Holy Eucharist (the Mass). People of any age are nurtured in this as the essential feature of the Christian faith.

Other devotions and prayer times are arranged according to the Church`s calendar seasons.

In recent decades the parish has been served by priests in the Anglo-Catholic tradition of the Church, but wit the amalgamation of three parishes into one we are mindful of the diverse experiences of faith within the churches.

It is a great privilege that we are able to exercise a regular bereavement ministry across the parish. We conduct funerals both within the church of St Paul`s and the Crematoriums in Burnley, Accrington and Skipton.

Christian weddings are a joy to celebrate at St Paul`s and occasionally we are asked to help couples celebrate anniversaries as well as renew their vows.

Baptisms are celebrated regularly, both within the main act of worship on Sunday mornings and at lunchtimes. We take the preparation of families for baptism seriously, and there is an informal series of conversations held together as part of the preparation for the celebration.

There is a parish administrator, Fiona Mason, who is available two mornings a week (Tuesday and Wednesday) on officelittlemarsden@gmail.com

Our Church Wardens are Barbara Mason (01282-692191) and Jeniene Maguire j9.maguire@virginmedia.com
